Inspiration-led learning for IGCSE Biology success
So often, students reach GCSE-level Biology and their love of the subject is lost as they move from student-led, interest-driven learning to the box-ticking, rote memorisation systems our exam framework sadly promotes.
The language becomes a barrier instead of a joy. The mark scheme frustrates expansive thinkers. The beautiful, real-world connections in Biology are buried as students plod through the content one unit at a time.
The Inspire to Learn IGCSE Biology Hub does things differently...
If you're looking to follow the exam board specification or textbook in its given order, committing facts to memory as you go, then this probably isn't for you...
But if you're seeking meaningful learning, tailored to exam success, yet inspiring far beyond the exam hall, read on.
In this hub, the specification content is completely restructured into seven modules. Each is based on connections, drawing together areas of the specification through the Biological processes that are fundamental to understanding them, but usually taught separately.
A library of real world video tutorials link live tuition to what students experience in the world around them, so that learning is meaningful and relevant.
Everything is exam-focused and specification-linked (Edexcel IGCSE Biology).
Though tailored to this specification, students studying other exam boards will have much to gain)
Key terms, exam techniques, practical skills and demonstrations, and mathematical skills are incorporated throughout, so students learn through understanding while gaining the confidence and expertise to successfully show what they know in the exam.

Taken individually, modules help students to gain knowledge and strengthen understanding by seeing the connections between the biological concepts whilst consolidating knowledge and understand of the real world applications of GCSE level biology. The modules are taught in a sequence (energy, oxygen, carbon, water, growth, survival, reproduction) but because they are designed through connections, some of the topics that are traditionally taught last, such as food chains, come in at the beginning in the energy topic. Many topics, such as respiration and photosynthesis, appear in multiple modules in differing levels of depth, because they are connected to so many life processes. In this way the key processes and concepts is continually reinforced, developed and consolidated.
Taken collectively, students travel an inspirational journey through the whole curriculum, building deep understanding of key biological processes and the connections between them, placing humans as one part of a connected network of life on Earth.
Whether you dip in and out (through a monthly membership you can cancel any time), stay for the whole journey (approx. 20 months for 2028 entry with additional scope for revision sessions and extension), or join part-way through, students are supported by a library of real world video tutorials and a wealth of tools, resources and community features (depending on your membership level) to offer support and guidance towards IGCSE exam success.

Meet the tutor

I've been teaching GCSE level Biology since 2009 and supporting learning in the home-educating community since 2017.
Biology has been everything to me since I was a child and passing that inspiration on to children has been at the heart of my work for the past sixteen years. I know why students lose marks, I know the pitfalls and challenges they commonly face and I know how to teach them the techniques, key words, exam question practice, mark scheme understanding and skills to transfer their knowledge into exam marks. In all the different ways I teach, I work by inspiring children to love the subject and to want to learn more. I'm building the hub to bring together my zero-pressure, accessible methods of interacting with children, my love of the subject and my exam-focused methods to inspire students to want to learn IGCSE Biology so they can succeed in the Biology exam because they deeply understand the subject and know how to demonstrate that in the exam hall. |

What's in the hub?
There are six main areas in the hub, which you can subscribe to with different levels of monthly membership access so that whether you're planning to complete every module and cover the whole specification, or just dip an and out to consolidate and connect your own learning you can access the hub however suits you best.
An outline of each area is given here, further details will be available shortly.

Live, weekly tuition online, on Zoom (Time to be decided, you can vote for your preference here)
Webinar style with multiple students with occasional supportive PDF resources.
Recordings available afterwards. Join any time, access all previous recordings - catch up with previous sessions and all modules.
Opportunities to interact if you want to (zero pressure, just watch if preferred!) with voting, polls, chat, Q&A sections, occasional home experiments and more.
Practical demonstrations and experiments. No slide presentations! I teach with real things in front of me, shown to you with a close up camera with occasional shared visuals.

How do I join?
The hub is currently being refined and nothing is set in stone yet! If you have any suggestions about how this would work best for you, you can let me know here and and I'll do my best to take your views into account.
To follow live through the whole journey (completing the Edexcel IGCSE specification content through all seven modules) you would need to either join in April when we begin and follow through (approx. 20 months TBC), or join any time and view the recordings of previous sessions.
- You can join and rejoin the hub at any time by a monthly subscription at three different access levels.
- You can cancel your subscription any time (if you then rejoin later you would have a new account).
- You can change your subscription tier by ending your subscription and starting a new one.
