we offer the opportunity to practice your new skills with a panel of school or home-educated children.

✅ Receive a certificate for online outreach participation ✅ Meet school or home-educated children ✅ Practice, support and feedback to refine your skills ✅ Build and promote your outreach profile on social media (optional) We support the researcher to develop a 20 minute, interactive presentation about their topic of choice, then facilitate a 25 minute Q&A session. Researchers have the opportunity to ✅ Choose your preferred audience ✅ Receive planning support and feedback beforehand ✅ Debrief and feedback afterwards ✅ Attend as many times as you like These events are free of charge to all parties. We invest time running these sessions to enable children to broaden their aspirations towards a future in STEM, and researchers to broaden their experience and skills delivering outreach effectively to children. Session structure
The events run for 1 hour online.
The first 15 minutes allow us time to offer final support and set everything up together.
The children join for 45 minutes: during the first 20 minutes we ask that you present something about your work - we will support you to prepare this effectively.
For the remaining 25 minutes the children can ask you questions, facilitated by us.
After the children leave, you have the option to stay for a debrief and feedback if you wish.
These events are recorded for internal training use by Sparking STEM. With your express consent only, we may use screen capture from the sessions to promote you and these sessions on the internet and social media.
