How does it work?
The three activities ("Micro-life", "Weird and Wonderful Invertebrates" and "Bones, teeth and skeletons" can be adapted to to suit your requirements and group sizes. We can offer all three activities as a carousel for example, or can run one or more of them of them in more depth for an extended period with a class or group. We can also offer a "show and tell" vertebrate session where the students meet our corn snake and learn all about her! Simply get in touch and tell us what year groups, group sizes and activities you're ideally looking for and we'll be in touch to help work out which structure would best suit your needs. |

"It has been amazing to hear how teachers of children from aged 4 to 11 all feel strongly that the sessions were superbly pitched for their children. "
Who does the teaching?
Our sessions are run by Amanda Childs, a fully qualified teacher (QTS, PGCE Science) with over thirteen years of teaching experience, enhanced DBS, safeguarding certification, paediatric first aid qualification, "Autism Awareness in Education" and "working with children with learning difficulties and disabilities" and "PDA for educators" certification. She may be accompanied by assistant staff depending on the requirements. Amanda has many years experience teaching children aged four to sixteen and is very happy handling a class of students. We ask that at least one class teacher is also present for each class of students, and that students with SEND have adequate supervisory provision. The teacher can be as hands on or off as they wish but we find that the students and staff often get the most out of workshops when the teachers join in. |
What do we need to provide?
We bring all the activities and resources necessary for your workshop and can adapt to most areas you might be likely to have available in your school. All you need to provide is a teacher and class!
It is helpful to be able to park close to a school entrance for unloading and loading equipment. The most suitable area is large enough for the number of agreed students to move around, with some table space available. Chairs aren't usually necessary, as the students will be active and on their feet. Having a sink and wipe clean floor is helpful but not essential.

"The fact the children could get so close to the animals and use equipment that they don’t always get to see in the classroom was brilliant. It was also great for them to have parts explained by an expert. "
